Transfer deadline day is here and, although Liverpool is expecting a quiet conclusion to the midseason window, there are no shortage of rumors surrounding the Reds.
Several of those concern exits, and defender Luke Chambers is a player who will force Liverpool into a late decision one way or the other. The 20-year-old has made four senior appearances for the Reds and his name was a regular appearance among the substitutes in the first half of the 2023/24 season.
Chambers joined Wigan Athletic on loan in January 2024, making 18 appearances for the Greater Manchester side. He then rejoined the Latics at the start of this season but has been hampered by a persistent back injury. The left-back has not played since October and returned to Liverpool in the same month to receive rehab on the issue.

As reported by Wigan Today, manager Shaun Maloney revealed over the weekend that a last-minute decision will be made by the Reds on whether Chambers can return to Wigan before Monday’s deadline.
"We might have to wait until Monday evening on that one," explained the former Aston Villa midfielder. "I'm not sure how that looks percentage wise, but we'll give him every possible chance to come back. Liverpool are in regular contact with our medical staff, and I've stayed in contact with Luke; he's a great lad.
"If it happens and he comes back, then great - if not, we'll have to take it from there. But he was a great player for us and hopefully we haven't seen the last of him. That will be their call, they'll make that decision, and in fairness, they've been absolutely brilliant with the whole thing. Whatever they think is right, we'll be fine with the decision."
Meanwhile, the agent of Andrija Maksimovic has revealed Liverpool is in talks with Red Star Belgrade over the possibility of signing the midfielder. The 17-year-old has already established himself as a regular for Red Star and has made seven appearances in the Champions League this term.
Unsurprisingly, that has alerted the attention of several of Europe’s top sides. "It's no secret, there are some [offers]," claimed Zoran Stojadinovic, the player’s agent. "Liverpool are among them, Aston Villa, Leipzig and Atletico Madrid so all the clubs from the top leagues have shown serious interest.
"And then we get to whether the price is €12 million [$12.4 million] or €20 million [$20.7 million], so they say, 'Let's see if it's €20 million by June.' If the price was €10 million [$10.4 million] and he could go, Maksimovic would have already been sold."
